I have always sung, and the early part of my performing career was in a cabaret act then musicals in repertory and commercial theatre. I then concentrated on the classical side of my voice which lead me into performing in opera. I have also sung as a soloist in concerts, parties and different events.
I am a soprano and and was a high coloraturo one, singing roles such as Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute and Cunegonde in Candide. But I have also sung slightly lower roles Marcelina in the Marriage of Figaro and Annina in La Traviata.
Other than that I have sung at parties in various locations from big hotels and fabulous venues; Cambridge Cottage at Kew Gardens, Goldsmiths’ Hall in London, for example, on the stage in Eastbourne Gardens, to people’s front rooms. Then as surprise singers on a punt on the Cam, at a garden centre, and many weddings and anniversaries.
With my partner, Leon Berger, we perform a Flanders & Swann musical evening HOLD VERY TIGHT PLEASE! this songs and stories from very early in their careers (at school even) and songs that they wrote for other people, including women! Plus of course all the old familiar songs. We also create site specific productions. Most recently Lady Nicholson’s Tea Party set in Sheerness Docks and performed in the Criterion Theatre, next to the docks.
